BJ The Chicago Kid Honors 16th Anniversary Of D’Angelo’s “Untitled” With EP

BJ The Chicago Kid released his Untitled EP yesterday (January 1) to honor the 16th anniversary of D’Angelo’s “Untitled.”

The project is a mashup of various covers from D’Angelo‘s catalogue. The tracks include “She’s Always In My Hair,” with two cuts from the 2000 album Voodoo, “Send It On” and the hit single “Untitled (How Does It Feel).”

“His musicality is beyond this world,” BJ The Chicago Kid says of D’Angelo via a press release. “I had to celebrate his genius by paying homage to his legacy while he continues to kill the game and make great music. It’s a new year and there’s no better way to start it off than taking it back to where it all began for me. This is real Soul/R&B.”

D’Angelo released Black Messiah in 2014, 14 years after Voodoo.

BJ The Chicago Kid was featured on Dr. Dre’s Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre this summer. He is preparing his debut album, which is scheduled to release early this year with features from Big K.R.I.T. and Chance the Rapper.
