MUSIC NEWS: Johnny Filter Collaborates With The Malmö Academic Choir (Sweden) [Video]

Johnny Filter is no new name to the industry. Having started his humble beginnings in the Cape Town Hip Hop scence as a member of the dynamic Hip Hop group ETC Crew, Johnny Filter has since established himself as a producer supplying beats for artist’s like Akil (Jurassic 5/USA), Miss A Soul (UK), Black Vulcanite (Namibia), Def Eff, Korianda, Postman L & many others as well as becoming a recognised beatboxer.

Now living in Sweden Filter is steadily building his name in Malmo, collaborating with some of the local acts within the country & recently Filter was given the opportunity to performed with the Malmö Akademiska kör (Malmö Academic Choir) at Malmö Live for Malmö Universities Annual Ceremony on the 20th of October 2017.

We caught up with Johnny Filter to get more information about the collaboration.

What’s up Filter?!! So tell us how did this all come together?

Well I was contacted by the Choir director Daniel Hansson. He reached out to me as he was looking for a beatboxer to collaborate with.

How did he find out about you?

He heard about me through recommendation from several people, amongst them Alexander Castro. Previously I had done a few beatbox performances in Malmö.

What was it like to work with a Choir?

After the first meeting I had with the Choir director I was very hyped about the opportunity, I have always dreamt about doing something like this and It has finally happened. I wasn’t aware of the size of this event before I got there.

What did you perform with the choir?

The performance was a collaboration between the Choir and me Beatboxing to a classical song titled “Full Fathom Five.”

Thats dope!!! Congrats man. So anything in the works for the future with the choir?

The director of the Choir wants me to be a part of the show… so yeah I will be doing more collaborations with them at different locations.

SUPER!!! Thanks Filter for kooling out with us. Any last words?

Peace, Love and Good music.
