Jermaine Cole, the leader of Dreamville is finally dropping an album this Friday! About a year and a half since he abruptly dropped 4 Your Eyez Only, he comes back after rumours of no more features, his supposed retirement from the game and a visibly major image change with the hair growing out. Cole had a listening session during a no-cell phones allowed concert for about 500 fans in New York. The 12-track project (of which approximately 2 will be slow, the rest are rumoured be going extra hard), will be called KOD which supposedly means one of 3 things. King Overdosed, Kids On Drugs or Kill Our Demonz. Mind you, the crown snatching emcee recorded it in 2 weeks.
Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar stole hearts by winning a Pulitzer Prize for DAMN! (For those who don’t know, the Pulitzer Prize is mostly associated with excellence in journalism, they also give out awards for fiction, poetry, as well as music). This comes in the same weekend as we celebrated the first anniversary of the album, which also won Best Rap Album at his year’s Grammy awards. Mind you K. Dot is not just the first rapper to win this prestigious award, but the first non-classical or jazz artist to win it period.
Finally Drake announced his next album (dropping in June) is called Scorpion. Suggested by quite a few Instagram posts, this album seems to be the aforementioned project that would give people ‘the summary as he mentioned in the More Life playlist outro ‘Do Not Disturb’. The album is set to feature the hit songs God’s Plan and the more recent No. 1 Nice for What which dropped at the top spot and made the former a quick runner up.
Stay tuned as you know we always keep you up to date with the dopest, but don’t hesitate to hit us up in the comment section below if you think different.
