Empire Records and South African born and bred Hip Hop artist Truey
Donatello is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated release of “Saucy” featuring Phantom Steeze
taken off Truey’s upcoming project B3 available later this year.
Following the success of his remix of DJ Cleo’s ‘Yile Gqom’ in 2017 and being individually known
for their lyrics & sound, the track speaks to the level of growth SA Hip Hop has risen to. Truey
expresses that he wanted to collaborate with Phantom on a track that resonated with the culture of
new age Hip Hip in South Africa. Produced by Durban beat-maker phoenix beats and engineered
by Producer Elroy, Saucy introduces the listener to a sound that speaks for South African music yet
still enhances the original sounds of old school Hip Hop.
Originally from Kwa-Mashu, KZN Luyanda Goba known to his followers as Truey Donatello, has
been a rising influencer in the South African Hip Hop scene since 2008. From former group MVT to
a now solo rapper, Truey has since been nominated for over 3 Hip Hop awards including ‘Best
Newcomer’ & ‘Best Mixtape’ all while balancing a ghostwriting career for some of SA’s prominent
Since signing to independent record company Empire Records SA, Truey has been silently putting in hours of studio time, collaborating with many artists throughout 2017 while working on his long-
