A few days ago, Gorillaz had announced their new album The Now Now. Today we wake up to TWO released songs from the group. Last night Gorillaz shared the music video for their song Humility which features George Benson, as well as a visualiser for another song, Lake Zurich. Both songs will appear on their brand new album, which is expected to be released on the 29th of June.
Yesterday Kool Out reported of the details on the expected album. This included the fact that from Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn’s statements, the teased video and the fact that Ace is replacing Murdoc as he serves his time in jail, that Gorillaz will be entering a new phase (Phase 5) with a new sound. And from the sounds of Humility and Lake Zurich, it seems the band’s new album will be one of soul, disco and jazzy vibes.
In an interview with Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 World Music radio show, Albarn revealed that, opposed to their Humanz album which was released last year, The Now Now only has a few collaborators, with the likes of George Benson and Snoop Dogg and Jamie Priniciple (that’s a mix of jazz, soul, hip hop and house – yes please!).
The music video for Humility is set in LA’s famous Venice Beach and is served with a dreamy 2-D singing to us as he roller blades his way around. The video and music is definitely one of summer feels!
