‘Liya’ Yet another smooth heart hitting track by South African born producer & beatboxer Johnny Filter emcee Postman L & vocalist & guitaris Yonelisa Wambi.
This proudly South African collaboration has given rise to a track which not only exhibits Cape Town South Africa’s homegrown hip-hop talents – of an international calibre – but it speaks to the transformational power of love a father possesses for his children.
It all started with a chance meeting in Observatory Cape Town – at Touch of Madness to be exact – where Johnny Filter met & heard Yonelisa Wambi’s vocals for the first time. He felt an instant appreciation for his passion & later joined Filter in the RedBull studios. He can be heard on the track singing the hook.
Who’s Liya? Liya is Postman L’s daughter. He wrote the song as a show of his love for her – a track he hopes she would appreciate when she’s old enough to understand just how much he loves he. Johnny Filter & Postman L go way back. Back to the days of starving artists fighting over fried chicken… now that’s an unbreakable bond!
Together with a well-executed beat – by Johnny Filter of course – they crafted ‘Liya’ due
Johnny Filter (now living in Malmö, Sweden) is always hot on the trails of another track – stay tuned if you enjoy the nostalgic sounds of real’ Hip-Hop combined with lyrical poetry the way Hip-Hop used to sound and a refreshing change to today’s ‘Hip-Hop.’
