Acclaimed South African rapper Reason will premier his latest music video for ‘Glasses to the Celing’ feat. LCNVL on Thursday 4th December online and all premium music channels starting Friday 5th December.
‘Glasses to the Ceiling’ is the second single off his highly praised sophomore album Audio High Definition, which debuted at No 1 on the iTunes Hip Hop Chart and firing up the airwaves, social media, and the streets!
The artist also known as Sizwe Moeketsi is one of the country’s most respected MCs – now setting the bar a little higher – with his latest music video for the single ‘Glasses to the Ceiling’. The LCNVL collaboration is the appropriate follow-up single announcing the launch of the new album, “It’s about celebration,” he says. “I really have a lot to celebrate this year. I’m grateful to make it this far. This has a Euro influence and also has some trap, electro and dubstep in there, it’s all about the party and it’s a great hip-hop song.”
The video is directed by Dewald Brand of The Grand Kids Collective, shot on location in Cape Town. Dewald had this to say about the project: “The idea for the video was strongly based on the song title, ‘Glasses to the Ceiling’ so we set out to create a house party like environment with certain introspective scenes for the majority of the verses. This was also the idea behind the long takes (especially the first verse) and we added slow motion, because, well, slow motion makes almost everything look great. Overall, we wanted to bring across the feeling of an intimate house party blending elements of Reason reflecting on how he’s gotten to where he is today and celebrating that fact.”
Reason’s latest album, Audio High Definition, is an ambitious project, world-class hip-hop with an African flavour. With this album, he’s aiming for nothing less than making hip-hop history.
“Audio High Definition is taking things to a new level with our sense of style and musical direction,” says Reason. “I want people to be going, ‘What?! Did you hear that! Whoah! Play that again!” he says of his lyrical ambition.
“The only way I’ll be timeless is by telling my story. Because my story is timeless…“ – Reason
