By now we all know that Michael Jordan considered making the jump from Nike to adidas long before the Air Jordan line became the legend it is today. What we don’t know, however, is that MJ nearly signed with the Three Stripes as a rookie. In 1984, the young basketball star was preparing to go pro and was interested in signing with the German sportswear brand. Apparently there was mutual interest but the deal was called off after adidas executives in Germany decided that at 6’6, he was too short compared to some of the other players in the league to be marketable. In 1988, the Air Jordan 3 made its debut and the rest, as you know, is history.
